Regular Season Round 23: Nancy - Hyeres-Toulon 89-76
Date: March 24, 2012
Very predictable result when fifth ranked Sluc Nancy (15-8) defeated at home bottom-ranked Hyeres-Toulon (2-20) 89-76 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Sluc Nancy. Hyeres-Toulon was better in third quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Hyeres-Toulon 37-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. Sluc Nancy looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for Nigerian center Akinlolu Akingbala (208-83, college: Clemson) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Jamal Shuler (191-86) helped adding 17 points. Four Sluc Nancy players scored in double figures. The former international guard Paccelis Morlende (189-81) responded with 16 points and 6 steals and American power forward Thomas Terrell (201-79, college: Georgia St.) scored 16 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Le Mans and Orleans. Hyeres-Toulon lost their fourteenth game in a row. They stay dead last with 20 lost games. Sluc Nancy will face Cholet (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Hyeres-Toulon will play against the league's second-placed Chalon/Saor (#2).
