Second Stage Round 5: Anwil - PGE Turow 72-83

There was a minor upset in Wloclawek where 4th placed Anwil (2-3) was defeated by sixth ranked PGE Turow (1-4) 83-72 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-72. PGE Turow shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 59.1 percentage. American guard Ronald Moore (183-88, college: Siena) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 assists for the winners and Australian-Dutch center Daniel Kickert (208-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. The former international guard Krzysztof Szubarga (182-84) responded with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized Bosnian forward Seid Hajric (203-83) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four Anwil players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. PGE Turow maintains sixth place in Group A with 1-4 record. Loser Anwil keeps the fourth position with three games lost. PGE Turow will face higher ranked Zastal ZG (#3) in Zielona Gora in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Anwil will play at home against the league's leader Asseco Prokom in Gdynia.
