Second Stage Round 5: Olimpia - Tsmoki-Minsk 66-48

Round 5 in Premier League means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Grodno where host Olimpia GrGAU (5-1) beat league's leader Minsk-2006 (4-2) 66-48 on Saturday evening. It was a key game for the top position in League. Olimpia GrGAU outrebounded Minsk-2006 29-14 including 21 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Russian-Ukrainian center Lyubov Alyoshkina (203-81) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American guard Megan Shoniker (175-89, college: Rhode Island, agency: Two Points) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Olimpia GrGAU players scored in double figures. The former international forward Viktoryia Pantsiukh (185-87) produced 10 points and power forward Volha Istseliatsova (189-88) added 9 points respectively for the guests. Olimpia GrGAU keeps a position of League leader. Minsk-2006 at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Olimpia. Minsk-2006 will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Olimpia GrGAU will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Gorizont in Minsk.
