Regular Season Round 48: Akita NH - Saitama Bron. 97-87
Date: March 25, 2012
Very expected game when 10th ranked Saitama Broncos (11-30) were defeated on the road by second ranked Akita Happinets (27-17) 97-87. It looked good early as Saitama Broncos took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Akita Happinets had a 25-20 second period charge getting the lead and Saitama Broncos were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 87-97. The winners were led by American swingman Ricky Woods (194-84, college: SE Louisiana) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists and American-Kittitian forward Kyle Swanston (201-86, college: JMU, agency: SDJ Sports) supported him with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Akita Happinets' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 25 points and 7 rebounds by American forward John Flowers (200-89, college: W.Virginia, agency: KMG Sports Management) did not help to save the game for Saitama Broncos. His fellow American import forward Jayme Miller (203-85) added 11 points and 12 rebounds. Five Akita Happinets and four Saitama Broncos players scored in double figures. Akita Happinets have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 27-17 record behind leader Okinawa GK. Saitama Broncos lost fifth consecutive game.
