Fifteenth-ranked MarcoPoloShop.it (7-16) gave a tough game to seventh ranked Fileni BPA (12-11) in Jesi on Sunday. Fileni BPA managed to secure only two-point victory 81-79. However their fans expected much easier game. MarcoPoloShop.it cut a 14-point halftime deficit to two at the end of the game. Fileni BPA made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. MarcoPoloShop.it was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Jeff Brooks (203-89, college: Penn St.) stepped up and scored 25 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and the former international center Michele Maggioli (212-77) chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds. Four Fileni BPA players scored in double figures. At the losing side American swingman Terrence Roderick (196-88, college: UAB, agency: Interperformances) responded with 27 points and 6 rebounds and Finnish swingman Shawn Huff (198-84, college: Valparaiso) scored 23 points and 6 rebounds. Fileni BPA moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Centrale Latte. Loser MarcoPoloShop.it stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Fileni BPA will face S.Antimo (#13) in Sant'Antimo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. MarcoPoloShop.it will play at home against Centrale Latte in Brescia.
