The most exciting game of round 22 in the Premier League took place in Ashdod. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 7th ranked Maccabi Ashdod (10-10) to second ranked Galil Gilboa (14-6) 76-74 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Maccabi Ashdod. The guests trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 26-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Galil Gilboa made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. The former international guard Dagan Yavzuri (193-85) scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American Romeo Travis (200-84, college: Akron) chipped in 19 points during the contest. Galil Gilboa's coach Lior Lubin used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American power forward Josh Duncan (203-86) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman Josh Carter (201-88, college: Texas A&M) scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Four Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. Galil Gilboa maintains second position with 14-6 record having four points less than leader Maccabi T-A. Maccabi Ashdod at the other side dropped to the sixth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Ironi Ashkelon.
