Regular Season Round 29: Den Bosch - Leiden 66-68

The game between closely ranked teams ended with second ranked Leiden's (20-6) road victory over 3rd placed Den Bosch (18-7) 68-66 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 18-11. But Den Bosch won second period 18-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Leiden won last quarter 17-16. Den Bosch was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Canadian forward Jevohn Shepherd (196-86, college: Michigan) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 7 rebounds. The former international power forward Patrick Hilliman (206-82, college: High Point, agency: R.H.Consultancy) contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Leiden's coach Toon Van Helfteren used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international guard Rogier Jansen (188-84, agency: Court Side) answered with 17 points and international forward Stefan Wessels (203-84, agency: R.H.Consultancy) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Den Bosch. Leiden have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 20-6 record having just -1 point less than leader Groningen. Den Bosch at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. Leiden will face Leeuwarden (#6) at home in the next round. Den Bosch will play against the league's leader Groningen in Groningen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
