There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Elitzur Ramla (11-13) edged at home 6th ranked Hod Hasharon (12-12) 92-91 on Tuesday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 22-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for American forward Stacey Moragne (195-83, college: Mass.-Lowell) who saved his team from a defeat with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Ilan Berkowitz (186-75) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Elitzur Ramla's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Puerto Rican point guard Javier Gonzalez (182-89, college: N.Carolina St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists and naturalized Latvian swingman Gary Gandel (203-80) added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Hod Hasharon. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Elitzur Ramla moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Ironi Ramat Gan. Loser Hod Hasharon keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. Elitzur Ramla will face Ironi Nahariya (#10) at home in the next round.
