Regular Season Round 43: Salon Vilpas - ToPo 72-79

Date: March 28, 2012
The game in Salon was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Torpan Pojat (21-18) played at the court of 8th ranked Salon Vilpas (16-23). Torpan Pojat managed to secure a 7-point victory 79-72 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-72. It was a great evening for American forward Justin Hawkins (201-85, college: N.Mexico St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Josh Wilson (188-87, college: N.Arizona, agency: Hightower Law Firm) helped adding 10 points and 4 assists. Wilson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. At the losing side American forward Allen Durham (198-88, college: Grace Bible) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Roope Ahonen (187-90, agency: FCM) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Torpan Pojat maintains fifth place with 21-18 record. Salon Vilpas lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 23 games lost. Torpan Pojat will meet at home UU-Korihait (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Salon Vilpas will play against Tampereen Pyrinto and hope to secure a win.
