There was no surprise when 10th ranked AZS Szczecin (13-14) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Sokol Lancut (17-10) 82-70 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-70. Sokol Lancut made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 26 AZS Szczecin turnovers. Strangely AZS Szczecin outrebounded Sokol Lancut 35-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sokol Lancut made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was forward Wojciech Pisarczyk (201-88) who scored 16 points. Forward Pawel Bogdanowicz (197-87) chipped in 17 points and 5 blocks. Five Sokol Lancut players scored in double figures. Swingman Krzysztof Mielczarek (198-81) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds and guard Lukasz Pacocha (182-82) added 13 points respectively for the hosts. AZS Szczecin's coach Zbigniew Majcherek let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Sokol Lancut moved-up to third place, which they share with SKK Siedlce. Loser AZS Szczecin keeps the tenth position with 14 games lost. Sokol Lancut will face AZS Kutno (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. AZS Szczecin will play against the league's leader Start Gdynia.
