Date: March 29, 2012
Everything went according to plan when second ranked Recanati (17-16) beat at home 5th ranked Matera (15-18) 103-98 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 47-41 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Guard Marco Ceron (195-92) stepped up and scored 28 points for the winners and forward Attilio Pierini (201-81) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was the former international swingman Andrea Pilotti (196-80, agency: Players Group) with 36 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and power forward Cristiano Grappasonni (204-72) scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Recanati keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Chieti and Pavia. Loser Matera dropped to the third place with 18 games lost. Recanati will face Comsum.it SI (#6) in Siena in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Matera will play on the road against the league's leader Trieste and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
