Bottom-ranked Coras de Tepic (0-12) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 92-75 loss to second ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (10-3) in Hermosillo. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The game without a history. Rayos de Hermosillo led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Coras de Tepic's 36. They outrebounded Coras de Tepic 42-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. Rayos de Hermosillo players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized American point guard Steve Monreal (180-86, college: CS Monterey) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 7 assists. American forward Emmanuel Little (196-85, college: N.Dakota) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Little is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Rayos de Hermosillo players scored in double figures. Rayos de Hermosillo's coach Dan Tacheny allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American center Deangelo Riley (205, college: Azusa Pacific) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocks and the other American import swingman Mychal Henderson (198-85, college: Ks Wesleyan) added 24 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Coras de Tepic. Rayos de Hermosillo keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Guaymas. Coras de Tepic at the other side still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo will again play against bottom-ranked Coras de Tepic (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Coras de Tepic will have a break next round.
