Regular Season Round 42: Nilan Bisons - Salon Vilpas 88-80

Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Salon Vilpas (16-22) was defeated on the road by third ranked Loimaan Korikonkarit (26-12) 88-80. After very bad start, Salon Vilpas stormed back in the second period cutting the deficit to 2 points 47-45. But it was not enough and Loimaan Korikonkarit took back the control in second half. They made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Forward Matti Nuutinen (200-90) notched 21 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Martin Zeno (196-85, college: Texas Tech) supported him with 21 points and 6 rebounds. Even 19 points and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) by American guard Emmanuel Holloway (188-86, college: Illinois St.) did not help to save the game for Salon Vilpas. His fellow American import forward Allen Durham (198-88, college: Grace Bible) added 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Salon Vilpas players scored in double figures. Salon Vilpas' coach Mikko Tupamaki tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Loimaan Korikonkarit moved-up to second place, which they share with Pyrinto. Salon Vilpas at the other side keeps the seventh position with 22 games lost. They share it with LrNMKY. Loimaan Korikonkarit will play against UU-Korihait (#10) in Uusikaupunki in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Salon Vilpas will play at home against Torpan Pojat in Helsinki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
