Important game to mention about took place in Helsinki. Ninth ranked Kouvot (14-24) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging higher ranked Torpan Pojat (20-18) 89-86 on Friday evening. Strangely Torpan Pojat outrebounded Kouvot 35-18 including a 18-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 17 long-distance shots on high 63.0 percentage. American guard Josh Gonner (188-82, college: S.Carolina) notched 29 points to lead the effort and guard Ilari Seppala (190-93) supported him with 20 points. Even a double-double of 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists by American forward Justin Hawkins (201-85, college: N.Mexico St.) did not help to save the game for Torpan Pojat. Forward Carl Lindbom (204-91) added 18 points and 9 rebounds. Four Kouvot and five Torpan Pojat players scored in double figures. Torpan Pojat's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kouvot maintains ninth position with 14-24 record. Torpan Pojat lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 18 games lost. Kouvot will play against higher ranked Tampereen Pyrinto (#3) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Torpan Pojat will play against Salon Vilpas and hopes to get back on the winning track.
