Regular Season Round 20: Batumi - Armia 87-110

Superleague top team - Armia (18-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed tenth ranked Batumi (2-16) 110-87. The game without a history. Armia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Batumi's 42 and made 24-of-29 charity shots (82.8 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Batumi 39-21 including 25 on the defensive glass. Armia players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Batumi helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American Will Thomas (203-86, agency: Two Points) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). The other American import point guard Ben Woodside (180-85, college: N.Dakota St., agency: Priority Sports) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Armia's coach Kote Tugushi felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The former international forward Lasha Keshelava (200-81) replied with 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and point guard Irakli Mikeladze (179-94) added 17 points and 8 assists in the effort for Batumi. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Armia have an impressive 18-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 18-0 record. Batumi lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 16 games lost. Armia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Sokhumi.
