Regular Season Round 42: Kauhajoki - Kataja 90-70

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Joensuun Kataja (30-9) in Kauhajoki on Friday night. Visitors were rolled over by fourth ranked Kauhajoen Karhu (22-16) 90-70. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Joensuun Kataja. The game was mostly controlled by Kauhajoen Karhu. Joensuun Kataja managed to win fourth quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 24 personal fouls committed by Joensuun Kataja helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Todd Hendley (206-84, college: NC-Wilmington) scored 24 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import point guard Clevin Hannah (180-87, college: Wichita St., agency: Court Side) chipped in 24 points and 4 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Jeremy Price (203-88, college: Georgia, agency: Strategic Sports) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and the former international swingman Samuel Haanpaa (203-86) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kauhajoen Karhu maintains fourth position with 22-16 record. Joensuun Kataja at the other side still keeps top place with nine games lost. Kauhajoen Karhu are looking forward to face LrNMKY (#7) in Lappeenranta in the next round. Joensuun Kataja will play at home against Namika Lahti (#11) and is hoping to win this game.
