No shocking result in a game when third ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (9-3) defeated at home 6th ranked Garra Canera de Navolato (6-7) 94-87 on Friday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-18. But Garra Canera de Navolato won second period 25-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tijuana Zonkeys made 23-of-25 free shots (92.0 percent) during the game. American power forward Cyrus Tate (203-85, college: Iowa, agency: Edge Sports) stepped up and scored 23 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and his fellow American import swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Ronald Selleaze (197-76, college: CSU Bakersfield, agency: Dream Team Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and Dominican-American guard Damien McSwine (193-78, college: Loyola, IL) scored 20 points and 8 assists. Five Tijuana Zonkeys and four Garra Canera de Navolato players scored in double figures. Tijuana Zonkeys have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 9-3 record behind leader Guaymas. Loser Garra Canera de Navolato dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with Guasave and Cananea. Tijuana Zonkeys will again meet at home Garra Canera de Navolato (#5) in the next round. Garra Canera de Navolato will have a break next round.
