Regular Season Round 49: Chiba Jets - Iwate Big Bulls 83-82

Rather expected game when 9th ranked Iwate Big Bulls (14-32) were edged on the road by seventh ranked Chiba Jets (16-28) 83-82 on Friday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Iwate Big Bulls won third quarter 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Iwate Big Bulls outrebounded Chiba Jets 52-40 including a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Chiba Jets made 10 blocks. American players dominated the game. Quite impressive performance for guard Jamel Staten (198-83, college: Minnesota St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Maurice Hargrow (193-83, college: Minnesota) contributed with 20 points and 4 assists for the winners. Power forward LaShawn Malloy (209-84, college: New Orleans, agency: Pro Management Agency) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: SDJ Sports) added 13 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Iwate Big Bulls. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Despite that victory Chiba Jets went down to eighth position due to points difference. Loser Iwate Big Bulls keep the ninth place with 32 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
