Very expected game when 6th ranked AZS Politechnika Warszawska (10-23) was defeated on the road by second ranked AZS Koszalin (18-16) 88-79 on Saturday. AZS Politechnika Warszawska trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 22-20 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 79-88 at the end of the game. AZS Koszalin looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Callistus Eziukwu (208-85, college: Grand Valley St.) who scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. The other American import guard J.J. Montgomery (196-82, college: Arkansas St.) chipped in 14 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). AZS Koszalin's coach Andrej Urlep allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was international forward Jaroslaw Mokros (201-90) who recorded 17 points and 5 rebounds and forward Michal Nowakowski (202-88) added 16 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. AZS Koszalin have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group B with 18-16 record having just three points less than leader Slask Wroclaw. AZS Politechnika Warszawska lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth place with 23 games lost. AZS Koszalin will face LKS Sphinx (#8) in Lodz in the next round where they are favorite. AZS Politechnika Warszawska will play at home against PBG Basket in Poznan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
