Not a big story in a game in Ourense where 13th ranked Universidad de Valladolid (5-17) was rolled over by sixth ranked Codigalco Carmelitas (13-9) 67-45 on Saturday. The game without a history. Codigalco Carmelitas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Universidad de Valladolid to just 5 points in first quarter. Codigalco Carmelitas forced 19 Universidad de Valladolid turnovers and had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. American power forward Necolia Simmons (183-87, college: USF) had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 19 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Cuban power forward Zuleira Aties (190-80) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Codigalco Carmelitas' coach Juan Antonio Rodriguez felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Maria Parro (182-85) responded with 11 points and 9 rebounds and center Leyre Carrascosa (202-93) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Codigalco Carmelitas maintains sixth position in Group A with 13-9 record, which they share with Cajacanarias. Newly promoted Universidad de Valladolid keeps the thirteenth place with 17 games lost. Codigalco Carmelitas will face league's second-placed Socinsa Bembibre on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Universidad de Valladolid will play against Arxil Pontevedra (#10).
