Regular Season Round 20: Olimpi - Dinamo Tbilisi 92-54
Date: March 31, 2012
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Tbilisi: Olimpi (#3) and Dinamo Tbilisi (#6). Olimpi (15-3) smashed visiting Dinamo Tbilisi (9-9) by 38 points 92-54. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Dinamo Tbilisi. The game without a history. Olimpi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 22 Dinamo Tbilisi turnovers and outrebounded them 48-33 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by the former international guard Giorgi Gamqrelidze (183-86, agency: Interperformances) who scored that evening 24 points and 6 rebounds and the former international forward Mikheil Berishvili (205-87) supported him with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Even 20 points and 5 rebounds by swingman Duda Sanadze (196-92) did not help to save the game for Dinamo Tbilisi. Guard Beka Tsivtsivadze (190-89) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Olimpi have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Dinamo Tbilisi at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Olimpi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Samedicino-Academia.
