There was no surprise when 7th ranked Bank of Taiwan (5-21) was defeated by second ranked Taiwan Beer (16-11) 81-72 on Saturday. Taiwan Beer trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-72. Taiwan Beer outrebounded Bank of Taiwan 48-29 including 17 on the offensive glass. Bank of Taiwan was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Trinidad and Tobago power forward Kibwe Trim (208-84, college: Sacred Heart, agency: Top Notch Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 19 rebounds. International guard Chin-Min Yang (188-84) chipped in 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Chih-Chiang Hsu (194-82) who recorded 17 points and 7 rebounds and forward Hsiao-Wen Chuan (190-83) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Taiwan Beer have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 16-11 record having five points less than leader Pure Youth. Bank of Taiwan lost third consecutive game. They stay dead last with 21 lost games. Taiwan Beer will face Taiwan Mobile (#6) in the next round. Bank of Taiwan will play against Yulon Luxgen.
