We should mention about the upset which took place in Avila, where higher ranked Leyma Basquet (12-9) lost to ninth ranked Fontedoso Carrefour (9-12) in a road game 53-61 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Leyma Basquet. Leyma Basquet was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Fontedoso Carrefour forced 19 Leyma Basquet turnovers. It was a great evening for point guard Sergio Llorente (188-90) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points. Guard Luis Parejo (196-89) helped adding 8 points and 7 rebounds. American power forward Kim Adams (203-82, college: Arkansas St., agency: Strategic Sports) responded with 5 points and 10 rebounds and naturalized Venezuelan power forward Javier Roman (207-80) scored 10 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fontedoso Carrefour maintains ninth place with 9-12 record. Loser Leyma Basquet keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. They share it with Barca Regal II and Lan Mobel ISB. Fontedoso Carrefour will meet at home higher ranked Aurteneche M. (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Leyma Basquet will play against the league's second-placed Ourense and will have a slim chance for a victory.
