Regular Season Round 49: Chiba Jets - Iwate Big Bulls 78-85

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Iwate Big Bulls (14-32) defeated on the road 7th ranked Chiba Jets (16-28) 85-78 on Saturday. Chiba Jets were trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 28-19 charge of Iwate Big Bulls, which allowed them to win the game. They made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Chiba Jets were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: SDJ Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Guard Makoto Sawaguchi (184-91) contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Iwate Big Bulls players scored in double figures. American guard Jamel Staten (198-83, college: Minnesota St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds and 9 assists and the other American import guard Maurice Hargrow (193-83, college: Minnesota) added 29 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Chiba Jets. Iwate Big Bulls maintains ninth place with 14-32 record. Loser Chiba Jets dropped to the eighth position with 28 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
