Regular Season Round 49: Oita H.Devils - Shiga L-Stars 80-82

Eighth-ranked Oita Heat Devils (18-24) used its home court advantage to challenge third ranked Shiga L-Stars (27-16). The visitors from Shiga managed to secure only two-point victory 82-80. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Oita Heat Devils. Oita Heat Devils were ahead by 3 points after three quarters before a 21-16 charge of Shiga L-Stars, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded Oita Heat Devils 40-29 including 25 on the defensive glass. Trinidad and Tobago power forward Julius Ashby (205-82, college: Colorado) stepped up and scored 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and American forward Ray Nixon (203-84, college: Wisconsin, agency: Top Notch Sports) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Shiga L-Stars' coach Al Westover allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side American forward T.J. Cummings (205-81, college: UCLA, agency: Top Notch Sports) responded with 24 points and the other American import guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV, agency: Top Notch Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. Four Oita Heat Devils players scored in double figures. Shiga L-Stars have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 27-16 record having just one points less than leader Okinawa GK, which they share with Kyoto Hannar. and Fukuoka Rizing. Oita Heat Devils at the other side keep the eighth position with 24 games lost. Shiga L-Stars will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Oita Heat Devils will play again at home against Shiga L-Stars (#3) and hope to get back on the winning track.
