Regular Season Round 49: Fukuoka Rizing - Niigata Albirex 97-94

A very close game took place in Fukuoka between Fukuoka Rizing and Niigata Albirex. Fifth ranked Fukuoka Rizing (27-16) got a very close home victory over 3rd placed Niigata Albirex (24-19). Fukuoka Rizing managed to escape with a 3-point win 97-94 in the fight for the third place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Niigata Albirex. Niigata Albirex was trailing by 9 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 32-25 charge of Fukuoka Rizing, which allowed them to win the game. American swingman Kevin Palmer (198-87, college: Texas A&M-CC, agency: VVG Sports) nailed 30 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his twelve free throws !!!) for the winning side and his fellow American import power forward Jermaine Dearman (202-80, college: S.Illinois, agency: Top Notch Sports) accounted for 19 points and 5 rebounds. American power forward Chris Holm (212-84, college: Vermont) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and swingman Yuichi Ikeda (191-83) added 14 points respectively for Niigata Albirex in the defeat. Four Fukuoka Rizing and five Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. Niigata Albirex's coach Matt Garrison rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Fukuoka Rizing moved-up to third place, which they share with Kyoto Hannar. and Shiga L-Stars. Loser Niigata Albirex keeps the third position with 19 games lost. Fukuoka Rizing will again meet at home Niigata Albirex (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Niigata Albirex will have a break next round.
