Regular Season Round 29: Toros - Gigantes 83-97

There was no surprise in Maracay where 10th ranked Toros (5-23) were defeated by third ranked Gigantes (17-10) 97-83 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Gigantes. Toros was better in second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They held Toros to an opponent 0.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 0.0 percent accuracy of the winners. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was swingman Blake Walker (197-82, college: Portland St.) who scored 28 points. Power forward Andrew Feeley (206-83, college: UMBC) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. Gigantes' coach Carl Herrera used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Delonte Holland (201-82, college: De Paul) produced 26 points and guard Tierre Brown (188-79, college: McNeese St.) added 19 points respectively for the hosts. Four Toros players scored in double figures. Gigantes maintains third place with 17-10 record having eleven points less than leader Cocodrilos. Loser Toros stay dead last with 23 lost games. Gigantes will face league's leader Cocodrilos in Caracas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
