Regular Season Round 50: Shinshu BW - Takamatsu FA 92-81

Rather predictable result when seventh ranked Shinshu BW (17-27) won against 9th ranked Takamatsu FA (2-43) in Nagano 92-81 on Monday. Takamatsu FA was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 32-18 charge of Shinshu BW, which allowed them to win the game. Shinshu BW outrebounded Takamatsu FA 42-28 including 31 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Shinshu BW made 8 blocks. American power forward Lee Roberts (201-87, college: Findlay, OH) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. The other American import guard Derek Raivio (190-84, college: Gonzaga) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 assists for the winners. STVn center Nyika Williams (203-87, college: Pacific) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and American power forward Paul Butorac (208-83, college: E.Washington) added 17 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Takamatsu FA. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Shinshu BW maintains seventh position with 17-27 record. Takamatsu FA lost eleventh consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 43 games lost. Shinshu BW will face Oita Heat Devils (#8) at home in the next round. Takamatsu FA will play against Saitama Broncos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
