There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Saitama Broncos (12-31) beat at home higher ranked Sendai 89ers (23-21) 82-69 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Saitama Broncos. Sendai 89ers was better in fourth quarter 17-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Saitama Broncos shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 63.6 percentage. American forward Jayme Miller (203-85) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Yasuaki Arai (180-83) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Five Saitama Broncos players scored in double figures. American forward Johnny Dukes (203-84, college: San Bernardino CC) replied with 32 points and 5 assists and his fellow American import forward Daniel Fitzgerald (206-84, college: Marquette) added 17 points in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Saitama Broncos maintains tenth position with 12-31 record. Loser Sendai 89ers dropped to the fourth place with 21 games lost. Saitama Broncos will face higher ranked Takamatsu FA (#9) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sendai 89ers will play against the league's leader Hamamatsu Phoenix (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
