The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Cocodrilos as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Cocodrilos smashed 3rd placed Gigantes in Caracas 100-78. The game was mostly controlled by Cocodrilos. Gigantes was better in fourth quarter 27-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cocodrilos held Gigantes to an opponent 0.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 0.0 percent accuracy of the winners. International power forward Luis Bethelmy (200-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points. American center Kentrell Gransberry (206-85, college: S.Florida) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Cocodrilos players scored in double figures. Forward Derwin Ramirez (191-82) answered with 13 points and American swingman Blake Walker (197-82, college: Portland St.) added 13 points in the effort for Gigantes. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cocodrilos have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Gigantes at the other side keep the third place with ten games lost. Gigantes will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Cocodrilos will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Gigantes at Puerto Ordaz.
