Bottom-ranked Coras de Tepic (0-15) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 81-65 loss to sixth ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (7-9) in Culiacan on Wednesday evening. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back winning two of next three quarters and won the game by 16 points. Caballeros de Culiacan dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Coras de Tepic's 38. Caballeros de Culiacan forced 23 Coras de Tepic turnovers. Caballeros de Culiacan have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Guasave and Cananea. Loser Coras de Tepic still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Caballeros de Culiacan will meet higher ranked Fuerza Guinda Nogales (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Coras de Tepic will have a break next round.
