Rather expected game when 9th ranked VOO Verviers-Pepinster (4-20) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Belgacom Liege (8-15) 78-69 on Wednesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-16. But VOO Verviers-Pepinster won second period 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American point guard Dominic Waters (185-86, college: Portland St.) who scored 21 points and 9 assists. The former international forward Pierre-Antoine Gillet (202-91) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was international forward Maxime De Zeeuw (205-87) who recorded 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized DR Congolese swingman Wen Boss Mukubu (198-83, college: UAB, agency: SportsTalent) added 10 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Belgacom Liege maintains seventh place with 8-15 record. VOO Verviers-Pepinster lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 20 lost games. Belgacom Liege will meet Optima Gent (#8) on the road in the next round. VOO Verviers-Pepinster will play against Okapi Aalstar and hope to secure a win.
