Second Stage Round 7: Berezina - Olimpia 63-81

Very significant was Olimpia GrGAU's (#1, 7-1) victory against 4th placed Berezina-RCOR (0-7) 81-63. The game was mostly controlled by Olimpia GrGAU. Berezina-RCOR was better in third quarter 15-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Olimpia GrGAU made 17-of-19 charity shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 26 Berezina-RCOR turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for Ukrainian forward Anna Pokoiova (188-87) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 4 steals. point guard Katsiaryna Kashlei (171-90) accounted for 11 points for the winning side. Four Olimpia GrGAU players scored in double figures. Center Hanna Kalenta (187-94) came up with 21 points and 6 rebounds and forward Galina Shylovich (182-91) added 17 points respectively for Berezina-RCOR in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Olimpia GrGAU have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-1 record. Berezina-RCOR at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Olimpia GrGAU will play against Gorizont (#3) in Minsk in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Berezina-RCOR will play at home against the league's second-placed Minsk-2006 and hopes to get finally their first victory.
