Very expected game in Beirut where 6th ranked Byblos (10-17) were crushed by second ranked Al Riyadi (24-3) 113-88 on Thursday. The game without a history. Al Riyadi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Byblos' 50. They outrebounded Byblos 50-26 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Riyadi looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international center Joseph Vogel (211-73, college: Colorado St., agency: Pro Management Agency) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. The former international guard Omar El Turk (188-81, college: Dawson Coll.) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists. American guard Chudney Gray (188-78, college: St.John's) produced 31 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and naturalized American guard Ali Barada (186, college: Northwood) added 25 points, 6 assists and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Riyadi have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 24-3 record behind leader Champville. Byblos lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 17 games lost. Al Riyadi will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Byblos will play against Sagesse (#4) in Beirut and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
