The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Leiden as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Leiden defeated 6th ranked Leeuwarden at home 81-71. The game without a history. Leiden led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-21 charity shots (90.5 percent) during the game. American forward Seamus Boxley (201-82, college: Portland St.) notched 18 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and the other American import point guard Thomas Jackson (175-80, college: Butler) supported him with 17 points. Leiden's coach Toon Van Helfteren allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 22 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) by American guard Brandon Rozzell (187-89, college: VCU) did not help to save the game for Leeuwarden. American-Mexican forward Mark Sanchez (201-87, college: Boise St., agency: Court Side) added 10 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Leiden (21-6) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Leeuwarden lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 17 games lost.
