Regular Season Round 27: Valladolid - Arxil Pontev. 50-60

Date: April 7, 2012
Rather predictable result when tenth ranked Arxil Pontevedra (9-14) beat on the road 13th ranked Universidad de Valladolid (5-18) 60-50. The game was mostly controlled by Arxil Pontevedra. Universidad de Valladolid was better in third quarter 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for Latvian forward Zane Jakobsone (180-85, college: Houston, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Estonian center Valeria Kast (201-87, college: N.Mexico, agency: Josep and Nicolas) accounted for 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Center Maria Navarro (183-89) came up with 13 points and 6 blocks and center Maria Parro (182-85) added 5 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Universidad de Valladolid in the defeat. Universidad de Valladolid's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Arxil Pontevedra maintains tenth place in Group A with 9-14 record. Newly promoted Universidad de Valladolid keeps the thirteenth position with 18 games lost. Arxil Pontevedra's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Socinsa Bembibre at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Universidad de Valladolid will play against Aguere (#11) in Santa Cruz de T. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
