Everything went according to plan in Mahon where second ranked Menorca Basquet (20-11) won against 10th ranked Palencia Baloncesto (15-16) 83-74 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-10. But Palencia Baloncesto won third quarter 17-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Power forward Roberto Morentin (206-81, college: Cent.Florida) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American forward Taylor Coppenrath (205-81, college: Vermont) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Carles Bravo (192-79) produced 18 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Geoff McDermott (203-87, college: Providence, agency: Interperformances) added 18 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Palencia Baloncesto players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Menorca Basquet maintains second place with 20-11 record having four points less than leader Canarias, which they share with Burgos. Loser Palencia Baloncesto keeps the tenth position with 16 games lost. Menorca Basquet will face Lobe Huesca (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Palencia Baloncesto will play against the league's leader Canarias (#1) in Tenerife.
