Regular Season Round 30: Den Bosch - Groningen 78-75

There was a change at the Eredivisie leadership position after last games. Round 30 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Groningen (20-6). They were edged by third ranked Den Bosch (19-7) 78-75 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Groningen. The hosts trailed by 11 points at the halftime before their 27-10 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. American point guard Frank Turner (178-88, college: Canisius, agency: Court Side) scored 16 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Kees Akerboom (200-83, agency: Court Side) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard David Bell (186-81) with 21 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Avis Wyatt (211-84, college: Virginia St.) scored 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Den Bosch maintains third position with 19-7 record having just three points less than leader Leiden. Groningen at the other side dropped to the second place with six games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Leiden. Groningen will play next round against strong Nijmegen trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Den Bosch will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Weert on the road.
