Regular Season Round 27: Real Canoe - Palma 94-40

Bottom-ranked Palma (0-24) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 94-40 loss to third ranked Real Canoe (18-7) in Madrid. The game without a history. Real Canoe led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Palma to just 5 points in first quarter. Real Canoe held Palma to an opponent 23.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.9 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Palma 52-29 including a 39-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Real Canoe players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 1 passes made by Palma's players. It was an exceptional evening for guard Lidia Gesteira (172-72) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds. Power forward Noelia Otero (184-85) accounted for 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Real Canoe players scored in double figures. Real Canoe's coach Pablo Roldan felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Miriam Rollan (175-90) came up with 14 points and 9 rebounds and forward Noelia Garcia (175-88) added 16 points respectively for Palma in the defeat. Real Canoe maintains third place in Group B with 18-7 record having four points less than leader Pais Vasco. Palma lost their twentieth fourth game in a row. They still closes the standings with 24 games lost. Real Canoe's next round opponent will be Fundal Alcobendas (#8) on the road which should be theoretically another easy game. Palma will play against Las Rozas (#12) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
