Very predictable result in Mont de Marsan where sixth ranked Basket Landes (13-12) smashed 12th ranked Aix-en-Provence (7-18) 81-56 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Basket Landes. Aix-en-Provence managed to win third quarter 26-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Basket Landes dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Aix-en-Provence's 36. American center Jennifer Humphrey (191-84, college: Kentucky, agency: Josep and Nicolas) fired 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. International swingman Marion Laborde (178-86) chipped in 12 points and 4 assists. Basket Landes' coach Olivier Lafargue felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Spanish center Cindy Lima (194-81, agency: Josep and Nicolas) produced 15 points and 8 rebounds and Spanish guard Tamara Abalde (188-89, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Basket Landes moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Tarbes and Nantes. Loser Aix-en-Provence keeps the twelfth position with 18 games lost. They share it with Lyon. Basket Landes will meet higher ranked Mondeville (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aix-en-Provence will play against Nice (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
