The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Okinawa GK (35-13) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Toyama Grouses (24-22) 80-64. The game without a history. Toyama Grouses led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Toyama Grouses outrebounded Okinawa GK 46-35 including 33 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Devin Searcy (208-89, college: Dayton, agency: Pro One Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds. Guard Takeshi Mito (184-85) contributed with 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures. American center Jeff Newton (205-81, college: Indiana) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and his fellow American import Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Okinawa GK. Okinawa GK's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Toyama Grouses moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Sendai 89ers. Okinawa GK at the other side still keeps top position with 13 games lost. Toyama Grouses is looking forward to face league's second-placed Osaka Evessa at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Okinawa GK will have a break next round.
