Regular Season Round 52: Shiga L-Stars - Fukuoka Rizing 103-79

Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked Fukuoka Rizing (28-18) was outscored on the road by third ranked Shiga L-Stars (30-16) 103-79 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Shiga L-Stars. Fukuoka Rizing was better in fourth quarter 29-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shiga L-Stars looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a very good performance for Trinidad and Tobago power forward Julius Ashby (205-82, college: Colorado) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Yu Okada (184-83) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Shiga L-Stars' coach Al Westover felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American power forward Gary Hamilton (208-84, college: Miami, FL, agency: Top Notch Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import swingman Kevin Palmer (198-87, college: Texas A&M-CC, agency: VVG Sports) added 19 points in the effort for Fukuoka Rizing. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Shiga L-Stars have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 30-16 record behind leader Okinawa GK, which they share with Kyoto Hannar. Loser Fukuoka Rizing keeps the fifth place with 18 games lost. Shiga L-Stars will face Shinshu BW (#7) in Nagano in the next round. Fukuoka Rizing will play on the road against Saitama Broncos.
