Regular Season Round 24: Netanya - Maccabi Haifa 72-75

Date: April 8, 2012
Bottom-ranked Maccabi Haifa managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the fifteen-game losing streak on Sunday night. This time they edged eighth-ranked Elitzur Netanya 75-72. The guests trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 22-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Maccabi Haifa looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by naturalized American swingman Sylven Landesberg (198-90, college: Virginia) who scored that evening 18 points and American forward Jeremis Smith (203-86, college: Georgia Tech) supported him with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Four Maccabi Haifa players scored in double figures. Even 20 points and 5 rebounds by guard Yehu Orland (193-81, agency: Ronsport) did not help to save the game for Elitzur Netanya. American guard Adrian Banks (191-86, college: NW Mississippi CC) added 15 points and 7 assists. Maccabi Haifa maintains eleventh position with 4-18 record. Loser Elitzur Netanya keeps the eighth place with 14 games lost. Maccabi Haifa will meet at home higher ranked B.C. Habikaa (#9) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Elitzur Netanya will play against Maccabi Ashdod and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
