Regular Season Round 13: Pure Youth - KKL 77-80

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Pure Youth (21-8) against fifth ranked KKL on Sunday night. KKL were edged by fifth ranked KKL (13-15) 80-77. KKL trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-77. KKL outrebounded Pure Youth 44-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for KKL especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. 25 personal fouls committed by Pure Youth helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Elbert Fuqua (211-83, college: UTSA, agency: Top Notch Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 21 rebounds. The former international center Wei-Fang Shang (196-78) contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four KKL players scored in double figures. Guard Shih-Chieh Chen (176-84) answered with 15 points and 5 assists and international swingman Chia-En Mao (195-82) added 13 points in the effort for Pure Youth. Pure Youth's coach Chin-Tse Hsu tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. KKL have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 13-15 record. Pure Youth lost third consecutive game. They still keep top position with eight games lost. KKL are looking forward to face league's second-placed Taiwan Beer in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pure Youth will play against Bank of Taiwan and is hoping to win this game.
