We should mention about the upset which took place in Kiryat Ata, where higher ranked Hod Hasharon (13-13) lost to eleventh ranked Ironi Kiryat Ata (10-16) in a road game 96-101 on Tuesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Hod Hasharon won third quarter 29-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ironi Kiryat Ata made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Hod Hasharon turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American forward Lenny Daniel (201-87, college: CS Northridge) had a double-double by scoring 29 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Tony Younger (200-80, college: Spring Hill, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) chipped in 26 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Naturalized Latvian swingman Gary Gandel (203-80) responded with 20 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Anthony Johnson (203-88, college: Fairfield) scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Ironi Kiryat Ata maintains eleventh position with 10-16 record. Loser Hod Hasharon dropped to the sixth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Kiryat Tivon.
