Very predictable result when first ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (13-4) edged on the road 7th ranked Frayles de Guasave (7-10) 84-81 on Tuesday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-16. But Frayles de Guasave won second period 25-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ostioneros de Guaymas looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Darrin Dorsey (188, college: Dakota Wesleyan) contributed with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American guard Russell Carter (196-85, college: Notre Dame) answered with 25 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized Panamanian forward Gabriel Giron (192-88) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Frayles de Guasave. Four Ostioneros de Guaymas and five Frayles de Guasave players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Ostioneros de Guaymas maintains first place with 13-4 record, which they share with Hermosillo. Loser Frayles de Guasave keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Ostioneros de Guaymas will have a break next round. Frayles de Guasave will play again at home against the league's leader Ostioneros de Guaymas (#1).
