Regular Season Round 18: Tepic - Los Mochis 75-87

Rather predictable result when seventh ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (8-10) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Coras de Tepic (0-17) 87-75 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Pioneros Los Mochis. Coras de Tepic was better in second period 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Coras de Tepic 47-30 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Naturalized American forward Eric Cuen (196, college: Grand Canyon) had a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Devon Pearson (198-84, college: SMU) chipped in 22 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Pioneros Los Mochis players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American center Deangelo Riley (205, college: Azusa Pacific) with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and his fellow American import forward Ray Reese (196-87, college: Tulsa, agency: David Lee services) scored 19 points. Coras de Tepic's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Pioneros Los Mochis have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Cananea and Culiacan. Coras de Tepic at the other side still closes the standings. Pioneros Los Mochis will face Frayles de Guasave (#8) at home in the next round. Coras de Tepic will play against Garra Canera de Navolato and hopes to get finally their first victory.
