Tenth-ranked Toros (6-27) made lots of trouble for sixth ranked Guaros (16-19) in Maracay on Friday. The visitors from Barquisimeto managed to secure only eleven-point victory 130-119. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests were tied at the half and again at the end of regular time. But they managed to win overtime period 20-9. Guaros held Toros to an opponent 0.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 0.0 percent accuracy of the winners. It was a great evening for American forward John Millsap (198-82, college: UTSA) who led his team to a victory scoring 30 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import guard Hassan Adams (193-84, college: Arizona) helped adding 29 points and 5 assists. Millsap is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Guaros' coach Chad Baker used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Delonte Holland (201-82, college: De Paul) responded with 42 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and the former international forward Jesus Urbina (201-84, college: George Mason) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Four Guaros and five Toros players scored in double figures. Guaros maintains sixth place with 16-19 record. Loser Toros stay dead last with 27 lost games. Guaros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toros will play again against Guaros (#6) in Barquisimeto and hope to secure a win.
