Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Lleida Basquet and 5th ranked UB La Palma had identical 19-12 record. This time Lleida Basquet used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from La Palma 58-54 on Friday night. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The winners were led by American-Austrian guard Jason Detrick (198-80, college: Oklahoma, agency: Court Side) who scored that evening 15 points and 4 assists and point guard Jose Simeon (187-91) supported him with 2 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 16 points and 7 rebounds by American forward Lucas Sikma (203-89, college: Portland) did not help to save the game for UB La Palma. Dutch power forward Roeland Schaftenaar (211-88, college: Oregon St.) added 7 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Lleida Basquet (20-12) moved-up to third place, which they share with Menorca and Navarra. UB La Palma lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with 13 games lost. Lleida Basquet will meet at home Melilla Baloncesto (#7) in the next round. UB La Palma will play against Palencia Baloncesto and hope to secure a win.
