Date: April 14, 2012
An interesting game for T71 (22-4) which hosted in Dudelange second-ranked Sparta (20-6). First ranked T71 managed to get a 5-point victory 70-65. Sparta was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 17-10 charge of T71, which allowed them to win the game. They made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. T71 forced 22 Sparta turnovers. The winners were led by international guard Tom Schumacher (190-87, college: Cal.Baptist) who scored that evening 23 points and point guard Gilles Ruffato (181-85) supported him with 19 points and 4 assists. Even 27 points by American point guard Kasey Ulin (184-82, college: Dickinson St.) did not help to save the game for Sparta. The former international forward Larrie Smith (198-75, college: Tenn Tech) added 19 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Defending champion maintains first position in League with 22-4 record. Loser Sparta keeps the second place with six games lost. T71 will meet Musel Pikes (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Sparta will play against Amicale in Steinsel and hope to secure a win.
